What is FUE hair transplant surgery?
Hair transplant surgery is performed to restore hair to areas of the scalp that are bald or that have thinning hair. There are multiple types of hair replacement surgery. At North Shore Plastic Surgery, we use the Follicular Unit Extraction or Excision (FUE) method. FUE transplants hair from one area of the scalp to another by extracting individual hair follicles from the donor area and transplanting them to the balding or thinning areas. FUE is a permanent, natural-looking solution to recreate your hairline and growth pattern.
Who is a good candidate for hair transplant surgery?
You may be a candidate for hair transplant surgery if you have healthy hair growth at the back and sides of the head to serve as donor areas.
Donor areas are the places on the head from which grafts and flaps are taken.
Other factors, such as hair color, texture and waviness or curliness may also affect the cosmetic result.
Hair transplant surgery can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but the results won't necessarily match your ideal. Before you decide to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations, and discuss them with Dr. Wages.

Does PRP help with thinning hair and hair loss?
The first step in rebuilding hair is to evaluate the underlying causes of the increased shedding and correcting the medical problems, if present. North Shore Plastic Surgery & Med Spa treats thinning hair with PRP treatments.
What is PRP?
For men and women with thinning hair, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments can be used to stimulate hair growth. PRP is full of growth factors that keep more hair follicles in the active growing phase, anagen, creating thicker appearing hair and covering the scalp more evenly. PRP is a treatment made from a patient's own blood that can stimulate healing and enhance hair growth. PRP is injected into the scalp in three sessions one month apart. To maintain fullness, PRP injections are performed every six months.
