Injections of botulinum toxin block the nerve signals to the muscle in which it was injected. Without a signal, the muscle is not able to contract resulting in diminished unwanted facial wrinkles and a smoothed appearance. Preparation
Avoid blood thinners (aspirin/ibuprofen) 2 weeks prior to minimize bruising.
DURATION
15-30 minutes
DOWNTIME
Bruising can occur but is usually mild and easily covered with makeup. There is no downtime and results begin to appear within 24-48 hours.
Procedure
Performed in the office using the smallest needles to minimize bruising. Mild discomfort during the injections with ice packs provided as needed. Do not rub or massage the treated areas after the treatment because it can cause the botulinum toxin to migrate to another area of your face. If this happens, you could have temporary facial weakness or drooping.
